For the active, Speyside offers limitless outdoor pursuits - hillwalking
and climbing, mountain biking, trail running, white water canoeing, sailing
and windsurfing on Loch Insch, fishing on the Spey or on a number of other
rivers, and Golf courses galore at Nethy bridge, Boat of Garten, Grantown
on Spey, Aviemore and many more. In winter the Cairngorms offer superb
walking, climbing, skiing and snowboarding and for beginners or families,
The Lecht is an ideal skiing resort.
For the less active, there is bird watching at Boat of Garten Osprey
Centre and all around the AbernethyForest, whisky tasting on the Speyside
Whisky Trail, gentle forest walks around the Abernethy Forest, a multitude
of historic sites to visit including beautiful Cawdor Castle and Culloden
Moor, The Highland Wildlife Park at Kingussie and The Landmark Visitor
Centre at Carrbridge.
In Nethy Bridge itself there are tennis courts, a bowling green,
children's park, and the golf course, and for rainy days there is a swimming
pool and soft play centre for young children at Coylumbridge. If you need
more, then Inverness is about forty minutes drive away and offers a full
range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities and shopping.
